Actor turned filmmaker Peter Stebbings answered questions from an appreciative audience Sunday afternoon, after the screening of Defendor. Admitting he had “a brief love affair with comics” as a teenager, Stebbings’ film stars Woody Harrelson as a super-hero with no power other than courage.
By not paying himself, or his producer, Stebbings was able to make what was budgeted as a $5-million film for about $3.5 million, including tax credits.
“I did feel like crying at that moment,” said Stebbings about passing on a salary.
The film was picked up for distribution by Sony at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month and Sudbury fans were happy to hear Stebbings is planning a sequel to Defendor.

My buddy Rob who has been almost more excited about all this than me even, he’s been following everything online. All the news etc, including this blog here. it was weird to have him quote back to me the things I said. He said my blog was being relayed on my unofficial website dutifully organized by a Peter supporter. Is this true Ladydeath? i have been a horrible horrible communicator but there are a small group of supporters who have…. believed in me? um? Supported me for a long time. So thanks to those people and my sincere apologies for being a lousy guy to be a fan of. There’s a lot of work I’ve done I’m not particularly proud of and then there’s a bunch of work I am really proud of (Defendor definitely falls into this latter category). And yet my supporters have been enthusiastic through all of it. So thank you.

Pretty self explanatory, it’s about the making of Defendor. Peter is pretty animated in this one. 
He’s casual in jeans and a t-shirt. It’s 5 mins. 29 secs. long. It’s similar to other interviews he’s done recently, but still it’s nice to see. Looks like he’s getting a bit more comfortable with the interview process.
